- Prepare 2 lb of assorted sausage, I used hot and sweet italian, garlic and cheese and breakfast sausage, use your favorites.
- You need 2 of peppers, I used one bell pepper and one italian sweet pepper.
- Prepare 1 large of onion, sliced.
- You need 6 of button mushrooms, sliced.
- You need 3 clove of minced garlic.
- Prepare 1 of 28 ounce can crushed tomatos.
- It’s 1/2 tsp of black pepper and salt to taste.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of italian seasoning.
- It’s 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes.
- You need 1 tsp of hot sauce, such as franks.
- It’s 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese and more for adding at serving time.
Assorted Sausage and Vegetable Braise step by step
- In a large skillet add a film of olive oil add sausage and brown on all sides, remove to a plate and add peppers, onions, garlic, and mushrooms saute 5 minutes, add remaining ingredients except cheese, return sausage to skillet and combine with sauce, cover and cook on low 35to 45 minutes, add cheese stir to combine, transfer to serving dish and serve with extra cheese on the side.
